Mac Arthur Celebrates National Manufacturing Day
“When our manufacturing base is strong, our entire economy is strong.” – Proclamation by the President Barack Obama, 10/2/2014.
Mac Arthur Corporation joins Manufacturers across the country to celebrate National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day). MFG Day highlights what 12 million people across the United States experience every day —pride at working directly in the manufacturing sector.
Across the country, manufacturers hosted over 1,600 events and opened their doors to students, parents, educators, media, customers, suppliers and their communities. MFG Day expands knowledge to the general public about our present-day advanced manufacturing environment, the importance of manufacturing to the U.S. economy, and about rewarding and diverse career opportunities in this sector.
Mac Arthur is supporting MFG Day in 2014 with employee education and a speaking engagement at the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) . Mac Arthur CEO, Christie Wong, provides policy advice on Manufacturing competitiveness and innovation; serving on the White House Advanced Manufacturing Partnership and the U.S. Department of Commerce Manufacturing Council. She comments about MFG Day, “Manufacturing directly supports almost 10% of our U.S. employees, provides over 12% of the U.S. Gross Domestic Product, and is the nation’s private sector R&D engine. It is critical to celebrate with our current workforce the significant contributions they are making daily to benefit their communities and country and to encourage students and adults to consider this exciting and rewarding industry for a future career.”
